Were you/are you ever bullied in school?

Wild Sage asked:

If so, were you bullied in elementary school, middle school, or high school? At what age was the bullying the worst? If you are no longer in school, how has being bullied when you were younger effected you as an adult?

Yes, I was bullied. It started around 2nd or 3rd grade. It was worst when I got into high school. And, I’m 18 now, and I think it has made me not want to be around people as much. I have avoidant personality disorder.

I am a very small person – a hair under five feet tall, now, as an adult – so school was a nightmare for me. Looking back, though, I’m not sure it was bullying as much as my being so focused on my size – people would pick me up, threaten to dunk me in the toilet or throw me in a dumpster; they’d lock me in lockers, etc. I’m not sure it was done in meanness, but it DID affect me and make me fearful to go to school many days.

Today, I’m still overly sensitive about my height and I think that might be because of all the teasing I suffered in school.

I was bullied once in middle school but then I got fed up with it and turned around and grabbed the other girl by her throat and began to punch her.

She began to cry and none of her friends jumped in.

She nor her friends never bothered me again.

Being bullied when I was in school can help me help out my children if they ever get bullied.

yes i have gotten bullied before for the dumbest reason. in MIDDLE SCHOOL 7th grade. we were going up to the bus parking lot. because school was over and me and this boy named dustin were goofing off and i dared him to go hug this girl that was infront of us. i didnt even no her. and so he did and right after he hugged her this boy started getting in his face becuase that was his girlfriend. so he got all upset and he wanted to fight with dustin. then the next day. we were in PE dustin and the guy that wanted to beat him up. his name was allen. i was running the mile. and Allen came up to me all close and said a b**** i heard that you told dustin to hug my girl and then he started cussing at me and he was about to punch me but before he punched me dustin my friend said hey dude let her go if anthing beat me up she is just a girl. thank you jesus for him. i was so scared i hated it.i mean i can understand if dustin punched his girl but it was just a hug and everybody hugs in middle school even people we dont really no. i hate to be bullied but if any body ever wanted to fight me then i know where to hit them. and plus i have jesus on my side.

I was bullied all throughout school. I wish I could see some of these people today since I’m Alot bigger now…. I lost alot of self confidence That I should have had when I was younger. and I lack some nowadays because of it.

I was NEVER bullied in elementary. I am bullied in jr. high… (actually was now). People are so mean. I have yet to experience high school as a freshman, but for me 8th grade was the worset. I have never been bullied before like I was this past year. Its not like physical, its just words. Them petty stupid girls. The thing I did learn was let them have their fun, when u disagree they say worse things.
–I am still in school, but really, I doubt adults are bullied as much as kids are. First off, bullying taught me A. Never bully anyone B. stand up for those being bullied and C. Try your hardest not to take what they say to heart. They dont care about you, I guess they just get a high out of bringing you down. As an adult, I think I will have more power over what people say to me/about me. Because I will have enough experience not to worry about it.
–Thankfully, I have my best friend (who is, if you will, the popular cheerleader) who can tell them girls to back off. :) Sorry its a wee bit long.

I was bullied on the school bus every day when I was in second grade by a fourth grader until one day I whacked him in the head as hard as I could with my lunch box. It broke my thermos, but he never came near me again.
In fourth grade one of my class mates was a bully. He left me alone after I greeted him one day as he came at me by bringing out a stick I had hidden behind my back. It wasn’t much more than a twig, and he laughed and asked if it was supposed to scare him. He didn’t realize the end was smeared with dog dirt until after he had tried to grab it out of my hand. After that he was very polite.
I’ve always been ready to take action against bullies in my life. A co-worker tried to start up with me outside a meeting some years ago, and I yelled so all could hear, [name], why are you pushing me into the wall? That ended that though thinking back, I rather wish I’d had the dirty twig for the SOB.

I was picked on in school because of my weight, but most of the kids I went to school with, I was with from prek-12, so you start to know a lot of people and the messing around with became mutal. No harm done.

I was bullied throughout the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade year! (all of middle school) People used to call me stoobs (stomach boobs) and I was so hurt! I actually became anorexic for a while because I cared so much about what people think of me! At one point, I was 5′3 and weighed 91 pounds! The teasing never stopped until I was finally sent to a treatment center where I was treated for anorexia!
When I returned to school, no one said anything to me because they all know that I became anorexic due to their comments. As a sophomore, going through all of that has made me a stronger and better person! Now, I don’t really give a crap what people think of me! And I don’t talk about people behind their backs because I know how much it hurts!

    Hope this helps!
